Roberto J. Gonzalez serves on the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, representing District 11. Since taking office, he has focused on initiatives that enhance quality of life for residents, including supporting homeowners, strengthening public safety, combating child sex trafficking, improving parks and promoting cleaner neighborhoods.
Commissioner Gonzalez currently serves as Chair of the Board’s Safety & Health Committee and Vice Chair of the Aviation and Seaport Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Intergovernmental and Economic Impact, and Infrastructure, Innovation and Technology committees.
Before his election, Gonzalez founded the law firm PereGonza The Attorneys PLLC and served as Secretary of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade Executive Committee from 2016 to 2020. An entrepreneur and attorney, he is a strong advocate for education, mentorship, civic engagement, small business growth and expanding economic opportunity.
Born in Guatemala, Gonzalez immigrated legally to the United States with his family at the age of two and has called Miami home since 1990. He is a graduate of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2015.
