Speaker Profile
Brittany Birken serves as Assistant Vice President for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Community and Economic Development team, where she focuses on identifying structural barriers to economic mobility and developing solutions that expand career opportunities for low-income working families.
Before joining the Atlanta Fed, Birken served on the faculty of the University of Florida’s College of Education, where her work centered on building educational systems that support student success. She also served as Director of Florida’s Office of Early Learning and as Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Children’s Council.
Throughout her career, Birken has partnered with business leaders, policymakers and community organizations to develop strategies that strengthen workforce pathways, improve economic security and build sustainable education systems that support long-term talent development.
Birken serves on the board of United Way of Florida, is affiliated with the University of Florida Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies and is a member of Leadership Florida. She has been recognized as one of Florida Trend’s Florida 500 Most Influential Leaders for multiple years and received the Federal Reserve Board’s Janet L. Yellen Award for Excellence in Community Development in 2023. She holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University.
